I am a huge fan of Marianne Williamson’s books, teachings and philosophies. One of her most famous quotes (Our Deepest Fear…) from her book, “A Return to Love” is:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
With all of the changes going on in the world and in our lives, It’s easy to start “shrinking” and to allow FEAR to set in. Fear is controlling a lot of the world’s decisions right now, but it doesn’t have to control yours.
If you peel back the layers underneath any of the “fears” that you have right now, you’ll find this at the core of the fear:
The level of confidence you have in yourself to be able to handle the worst case scenario involving that particular fear.
I was speaking to a woman from my church the other day and we were talking about her secure job with the government that she’s had for almost 30 years. She shared with me that she really wanted to start her own online business, but didn’t want to leave the security of her job.
I asked her if she was able to retire now and she said, “Yes”. In fact, they have doubled her workload and reduced her income and they are encouraging her to retire. She would have a sufficient income to pay for all of her expenses and then some.
I told her she was in a great position to start following her dreams, living her passions and tapping into that creative side of herself that has been repressed for many years at her government job. She said, “But you don’t understand, I’m a scaredy cat.”
I do understand that most people don’t like to take risks and they don’t like the unknown. Because she is unsure of exactly what type of online business she would create, how much money that would generate and whether or not she could continue living in the lifestyle she had become accustomed to…she was afraid to take the first step.
I confirmed to her that it would be an “act of faith.” Faith in herself that she can handle whatever comes her way and faith in the Universe to provide. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” as the Good Book says. If we could “see” it, there would be no need for faith.
Marianne Williamson, says in her book, A Woman’s Worth:
“At every moment, a woman makes a choice: between the state of the queen and the state of the slavegirl.”
I believe what Marianne Williamson teaches; that we are priestesses, healers, and yes Queens…but most of us don’t know it yet.
It’s time to relcaim our power, our goodness, our magic and yes, our faith. Faith in ourselves. When you tap into that faith in yourself you embrace the “Queen” within. The wise queen who has earned her “serenity”…who has “suffered and grown more beautiful because of it…” and who “rules with authentic power.”
As Marianne Williamson says:
“When a woman rises up in glory, her energy is magnetic and her sense of possibility contagious.”
We owe it to ourselves to embrace our expansion so that others may see our light and be inspired.
Just remember what Marianne Williamson taught us:
“Your playing small does not serve the world.”
So take a risk and allow yourself to be the Queen that you are! Others are waiting your instruction.
