Creating Online Courses will increase your income exponentially and help you be seen as an Expert in your field!

If you are a speaker, author, coach, trainer, entrepreneur, consultant, business owner or just  have something to teach others, then you are leaving a lot of money on the table if you don’t have an online course to promote!

About a decade ago, when I was putting up my very first website, I crossed paths with Yanik Silver — a well known

copywriter, entrepreneur and internet marketing guru!  I signed up for one of his online courses that was way out of my comfort zone ($1200) called “Information Marketing Player’s Workshop” and that course forever changed my life.

At first I felt overwhelmed because there were literally hundreds of ways Yanik was teaching to make money online.  Then I had an epiphany — to just choose my favorite way and to master that!  What really resonated with me was creating online courses!

I’ve been able to make a living teaching online courses for the past 10 years!  One of the things that stuck with me that Yanik said was that the perceived value of an ebook was about $5 to $20 max and that the perceived value of an online course (depending on what features you added to it) was $100 to $2,000+!  The other indirect benefit of teaching online courses, is that your students will learn more because of the “accountability” feature and doing it in a group with your guidance and help.  So you’ll have more success stories than just selling a $5 ebook.  I’m not suggesting that you shouldn’t sell ebooks; I highly recommend publishing ebooks on Amazon for lead generation and income, but online courses will raise your income exponentially as well as help you be seen as an expert in your field.

So let’s get started…

Creating Online Courses in 6 Easy Steps:

Step 1:  Choose a Well-Researched & Profitable Topic that you have Expertise in!  You must choose a topic that people are willing to pay for, that can’t be found easily online for free, and that you have done your research on using Google’s Keyword Planner.  You should also have expertise in the area you are teaching in because that’s where your credibility comes from.  If you’ve had a problem and overcome it, then you are an expert in that area.  Let’s say for example, you had a severe skin condition and you were able to heal from it using natural methods.  That would be a great topic for you to create an online course around.  The fact of the matter is, FREE information abounds on the internet, but you know what is lacking?  High Conscious Leaders that are willing to invest their time by building a relationship with their students by being accessible and personally teaching new skills to that person.  People need direction, guidance and personal help.  They can find information…what they really need is someone to help them process the information!

Step 2:  Re-Purpose Content You Already Have!  Of course, you can write new material for your online course, however, if you are a blogger, you can take some of your blog posts for a particular topic and create an online course with it.  If you’ve written and published a book on Amazon, then you can take those ideas a step further and create an online course with it.  That’s how I created my very first online course years ago!  I had written a 150-page manuscript called “How to Quit Your Job and Follow your Dreams“; I was also teaching this course at an Adult Education Center in my area.  I decided to break down the material from the manuscript and I created an online course!  What content do you already have that you can build on to create your very own online course?

Step 3:  Add Video and/or Audio to Your Online Course to Make it More Engaging and Personal!  Even if you’re not a technology guru, there are some pretty user-friendly programs out there that allow you to deliver audio and/or video to your students.  For example, I love recording Audios on AudioAcrobat and then simply using that link in addition to my PDF Lessons.  The great part about audio is you don’t have to look pretty when you record it.  Unless you need to visually teach something, then audio is great!  If you want a screencast recording then I recommend the FREE program Screen-cast-o-matic to get started.

Step 4:  Add a Professional Image for your Online Course!  With the invention of Fiverr.com you can literally get a beautiful image for your online course from a graphics artist on Fiverr!  I used to pay my graphics lady $50/hour to do this for me and we would go back and forth.  Now, I send $5 and I work with a great provider on Fiverr for all of my book covers and online course images!  If you’re somewhat technical, you can create your own on www.picmonkey.com  I create images on there all the time!  I love PicMonkey!

Step 5:  Automation, Automation, Automation!  What’s the point of “Do the Work Once and Get Paid Over and Over” if you have to keep doing work!  The goal is to try and remove yourself as much as possible and create automation in your business.  I actually used to deliver my online courses manually, many years ago, before I learned about the power of Aweber for my online business.  I use Aweber to deliver my online courses and it’s very easy even if you’re non-techy.  You do the set up once, and any time someone signs up for your online course, it delivers the material over and over!  I have mine set up for 6-weeks; so when someone signs up for my online course, then every 7 days they receive a new lesson and assignment from me through the autoresponders.  Aweber is the absolute best for building an online business and delivering online courses!

Step 6:  Have a Professional WordPress Website!  Maybe I should have put this as Step 1, but you really need a professional website to sell your online course from if you want to be seen as the expert in your field!  Not one of those “freebie websites” with long domain names that you don’t own and that can go bye bye at any time!  If you’re really serious about making money online, then you need to invest in your own WordPress Website/Blog.  I have 2 ways I can help you do this:  The FREE method, where I’ll do the set up for you of WordPress and a professional theme; or I have a complete Heart-Centered Website Package.

As you can see, I’m passionate about Online Courses!  I think there is a real need online for more personal trainings that engage people and can also answer their questions.  So many people pay thousands of dollars for programs and then never do anything because they don’t have the support.
