Think about these statistics found in the book Money, a Memoir Women Emotions and Cash, by Liz Perle, who says:
“In the 1950’s the number of women that out-earned their husbands was so small, that the information wasn’t even systematically gathered. But fifty years later, almost 1 in 3 women do, and our numbers rise every year. We control $4 trillion in yearly consumer spending. We make 62 percent of all car purchases. We take 50 percent of all business trips. We control more than 50 percent of all personal wealth in this country. In addition, we do this while shouldering the majority of family responsibilities. We’ve gotten caught in a time warp where our economic realities have changed faster than our expectations and identities.”
So, in a little over 50 years many women have gone from financial dependency to financial independency! Yet, I think there is still an internal struggle for many of us “independent” types, on how to remain kind, nurturing and relationship-oriented versus how to be materially successful and not apologize for it.
So we need to be honest and look at our ambivalence between having wealth (material things) and our desires for non-material things such as spending time with our families, relationships, spirituality, health and fitness, etc. Often times women feel they can only have one. That they only get to choose one. This is what I call “faulty-thinking”.
I’ve seen many comments in chatrooms by women who said they weren’t willing to give up time with their families, their children, in exchange for a 6-figure income.
I strongly believe and feel: “You don’t have to”. You can have both.
How does one do that?
By re-designing your life where you can have all of your heart’s desires as well as a 6-figure income. Just because there are some people who work 60+ hours a week to make 6 figures doesn’t mean you have to be one of those people.
I choose to work 20-25 hours a week and make a 6-figure income and I have, over the years (this did not happen overnight; although my decision to choose this lifestyle did), created the life I desired.
You can have that too! One of the online courses that I teach if you are at a place where you want to create your dream life is: “How to Quit Your Job and Follow Your Dreams” (https://www.becomea6figurewoman.com/online-courses/quit-your-job/ ) because I take you step by step through the process of reconnecting with your authentic self; figuring out what your buried dreams are; excavating those dreams; removing energy zappers and ultimately designing and creating your dream 6-figure life!
Just some food for thought…
